Gateway Cargo introduces Electric HGV Services for Curtainsider and Container Transport from London Gateway

Electric HGV, Container transport, London Gateway Port

Gateway Cargo has taken another major step forward in its journey towards sustainable logistics, introducing fully electric HGV operations for both curtainsider and container transport from London Gateway.

Building on our ongoing investment in cleaner transport and smarter freight solutions, this new development marks a key milestone in expanding our low-carbon fleet strategy across the South East. The introduction of electric trucks will support our customers with zero-emission first- and last-mile delivery options while maintaining the same reliability and flexibility that Gateway Cargo is known for.

The new eHGVs will initially serve key port and regional distribution routes, supporting daily flows between DP World London Gateway, Tilbury, and Greater London. The service will be available for both curtainsider general cargo and container movements, with flexible capacity to meet growing demand from customers seeking sustainable alternatives.

This launch follows Gateway Cargo’s growing involvement in the UK’s decarbonisation and eHGV ecosystem, with participation in industry forums, pilot trials, and infrastructure collaborations aimed at accelerating the transition to zero-emission transport.

ESGWith the recent collaboration with CocoonFMS® Ltd and the CocoonCarbon® Calculator, Gateway Cargo can now accurately track Scope 3 emissions across the supply chain — helping businesses meet their ESG and compliance requirements with transparent verifiable carbon data.

Gateway Cargo will continue to invest in charging infrastructure, telematics integration, and carbon reporting toolsto ensure a seamless transition for customers adopting electric logistics.

This development reinforces our commitment to a Net Zero future, supporting the broader sustainability goals of our customers and the logistics industry.
